What is:
| Branded as Gonal -F® throughout the world by Serono. Follitropin Alfa is a gonadotrophin hormone and consists of highly purified rFSH (recombinant follicle stimulating hormone) with neither urinary proteins nor LH (lutenising hormone). Since it is very pure, it may be administered subcutaneously (just below the skin). Follitropin Alfa is used to treat fertility problems. It is used in combination with another hormone hCG (human chorionic gonadotrophin) to stimulate the ovaries in women or used alone to stimulate sperm production in men, depending on the type of fertility problem being treated by your doctor. |
Contents:
- 1 vial of dry powder.
- 1 pre-filled syringe containing clear solvent.
- 1 long needle 1.2 X 40mm 18G for mixing and 1 short needle 0.4 X 12mm 27G for subcutaneous injection.
Side effect:
Dizziness, fever, chills; redness, swelling, itching, or pain at the injection site; nausea, headache, breast tenderness, vaginal breakthrough bleeding in women, or acne or tiredness in men may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, notify your doctor. Tell your doctor immediately if any of these serious side effects occur: bloating, muscle pain, joint pain, swelling or pain in the arms or legs, stomach pain, unusual weight gain for women, breast pain or swelling in men. Tell your doctor immediately if any of these unlikely but serious side effects occur: unusually fast heartbeat, trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor.
Storage:
Before mixing, the powder may be stored at
- Room temperature or refrigerated (36°F-77°F / 2°C-25°C)
- Away from light and moisture until expiration date.
- Use immediately after mixing.
- Discard any unused portion of the vial.
